GORE BRETT, Private Merson Templer, Gore Brett, killed in action, was the only son of Mr. Alexander Gore Brett of Burgoyne Road, Epsom, and was in his 22nd year. He was born at Hawera, educated at the Hawera District High School and afterwards at the Auckland Grammar School and he was a keen football and tennis player. Prior to enlisting he was farming at Te Aroha. He attained to corporal's stripes in the infantry before leaving Trentham. He volunteered for machine-
